This week we continued in John 15 with the reminder in verses 7-8 that if we abide in Christ and His words abide in us…we will bear much fruit. As we crave His word like spiritual milk we will grow spiritually, grow in intimacy, and grow in trust with the Father. We followed up on last week’s lesson by discussing our own hindrances to hearing from God including: 1) Principalities – There is a spiritual battle waging against us 2) Preconceived Notions – Judging ourselves and judging/comparing our time with God 3) Partial Understanding – Our understanding is hindered by our own human reasoning, hard heart and forgetfulness 4) Preoccupation – a. Subject Matter – getting caught up in the answer we seek rather than listening to what God is talking about right now. b. Timing – lag time leads to doubt; focus on today and your next right thing. c. Method – God can use anything to get your attention.

The previous lssoen made a distinction between your position in Christ and your daily condition. Your position is where you stand with respect to Jesus. When you are saved, you are in Christ and you now exist in an unchanging unity with Him. Your daily condition depends on how you live day-to-day.
