This week marked week 5 of Counting on God! We continued our study of John 15 focusing on verses 6-8. Kathy began by continuing our discussion of PROFITABLE PRODUCE, reminding us that as we abide in Christ we will produce both internal and external fruit. We cannot bear fruit apart from the Vine. We don’t simply want to survive (be saved), but we want to thrive with life-giving sap from God our source.
The bulk of our teaching was on verses 7-8 as Kathy talked about our POWERFUL POSITION in Christ as His children…His sheep that hear His voice. We learned the difference between God’s logos (written) and rhema (spoken) word and how the Holy Spirit takes God’s principles and makes them personal for each of us. Our response is obedience in faith. Kathy’s personal testimonies of hearing from God were so encouraging and showed just what an intimate God we have. She invited us to an amazing journey with our Abba Father, reminding us that there is always more to know of Him.
